SAFETY GUIDELINES

Ensuring the safety and comfort of both caregivers and babies is our top priority in baby wearing dance classes. Please adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved:

Before Class

Consult with Your Healthcare Provider:

  • Postpartum Check: Ensure you have received clearance from your healthcare provider to participate in physical activities, especially if you had a C-section or complications during delivery.

  • Baby’s Health: Confirm that your baby is healthy and ready for baby wearing activities. Babies should generally be at least 12 weeks old, but always follow your healthcare provider's advice.

Choose the Right Baby Carrier:

  • Ergonomic Design: Use a carrier that supports the baby's hips, spine, and neck properly. It should keep the baby in a natural, ergonomic position.

  • Age and Weight Appropriateness: Ensure the carrier is suitable for your baby's age and weight. Check the manufacturer’s guidelines for weight limits.

  • Secure Fit: The carrier should be snug enough to support the baby securely, without being too tight. The baby's face should be visible and close enough to kiss.

During Class

Proper Positioning:

  • Visible and Kissable: The baby’s face should always be visible and close enough to kiss.

  • Airway: Ensure the baby’s chin is off their chest to maintain an open airway.

  • Leg Position: The baby's legs should be in an “M” position, with knees higher than the bottom.

Monitor Baby’s Comfort and Temperature:

  • Comfort Check: Regularly check on your baby’s comfort and make adjustments as needed.

  • Temperature: Dress the baby appropriately for the activity level and room temperature to avoid overheating or chilling.

Listen to Your Body:

  • Pace Yourself: Start with gentle movements and gradually increase intensity. Avoid any movements that feel uncomfortable or unsafe for you or your baby.

  • Hydrate and Rest: Stay hydrated and take breaks as needed. Do not hesitate to rest if you feel fatigued.

Follow Instructor’s Guidance:

  • Instructions: Pay close attention to the instructor's guidance and modifications to ensure your safety and the safety of your baby.

  • No High-Impact Movements: Avoid jumps, fast spins, or any high-impact movements that could destabilize the baby carrier.

After Class

Check for Discomfort or Irritation:

  • Baby’s Skin: Check your baby for any signs of discomfort or irritation from the carrier straps or fabric.

  • Your Body: Assess your own comfort and watch for any soreness, especially in your back, shoulders, and pelvis.

Feedback and Concerns:

  • Communicate: Inform the instructor of any discomfort or issues experienced during the class so adjustments can be made for future sessions.

By following these safety guidelines, we can ensure a positive and secure environment for both caregivers and babies, allowing everyone to enjoy the benefits of baby wearing dance classes safely.
